About the Program

Origins & Growth Founded in 1996 in response to the decline of freshman engineering enrollment among minority students, Proyecto Access began as a collaboration between NASA and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). Originally known as the NYPREP program, we have expanded from New York to operate in nine major cities, partnering with top institutions of higher learning to bridge the gap in STEM education.

Our Mission

We identify socially and economically disadvantaged middle and high school students who possess the potential to become leaders in science, technology, and engineering.

Our goal is simple but ambitious: To increase minority participation in mathematics, science, technology, health-related fields, and licensed professions. We provide the academic enrichment, reinforcement, and mentorship necessary to transition students from the classroom to the high-technology workplace.

Curriculum & Focus Areas

We prepare students for the future by immersing them in the tools of today. Our curriculum places a heavy emphasis on technology use in the classroom.
