Dr. Moise Koffi is a Professor and the Engineering Coordinator in the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science at Hostos Community College, CUNY. With a career spanning over two decades in academia, Dr. Koffi has established himself as a leader in both mechanical engineering research and the administration of critical student support programs.
Dr. Koffi’s academic journey is a testament to perseverance and excellence. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The Graduate Center, CUNY (2013) , a Master of Engineering from The City College of New York (2004) , and a B.S. in Electro-Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ivory Coast (1985). His personal narrative, often summarized as “From Clemente to a PhD,” serves as an inspiration to the students he serves.

Engineering Coordinator and Program Director for STEP/CSTEP
Since 2006, Dr. Koffi has served as the Program Director for the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) and the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) at Hostos. In this capacity, he has successfully secured over $10 million in grant funding from the New York State Education Department and the National Science Foundation to support underrepresented minority students in STEM.
His work has been recognized by legislative bodies, including a commendation from Congressman Ritchie Torres for securing substantial NSF awards to support research, innovation, and discovery in District 15. Dr. Koffi combines rigorous technical expertise with a deep commitment to humanities-enriched science education, believing that broad knowledge is the gateway to opportunity.
